DIMORFIA – Utopia
Style: Symphonic / Power Metal
Rating: 8,5 / 10
Dimorfia is a six-piece symphonic power metal band from Thessaloniki, Greece. I must say that the metal scene from this country is very strong with a lot of bands from a variety of genres. Many of these bands invest very much in music, sound and artwork quality and the result is often great.
“Utopia” is the debut album from these six cool Greeks. This material is full of symphonic elements combined with power metal speed and force topped with a beautiful atmosphere.
The female vocals are very good and opera orientated, somehow in the Therion style. In fact, you will find many of these Therion parts, but without being a copy. You will find also some traditional Greek parts and even some darkwave/industrial effects or whole parts ( the album intro “Alea Jacta Est” is a very good example).
So if you want symphonic power metal with some progressive parts, with beautiful female and male voices, with fast and melodic riffs, with very good guitar solos, with gorgeous keyboards atmosphere you sure are in the right place.
This material is very well produced too, without any major flaws. All instruments are present and clear, and this aspect is very important for this kind of band. Maybe the guitars must be a little bit up in the mix.
Because “Utopia” is the debut album for Dimorfia I am very confident in their future. Only time will tell, right?
STAY TRUE! STAY METAL!
